? Congratulations, Dr. Tania Biswas! ?

We are thrilled to congratulate Tania Biswas on successfully defending her dissertation! ??

Tania completed her Ph.D. as part of the EU project GLOMO (Global Mobility of Employees; www.glomo.eu), which was acquired and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Maike Andresen, and spent several months on a secondment at our Chair. Prof. Dr. Maike Andresen accompanied and supervised Tania on this exciting journey together with Prof. Dr. Liisa M?kel?. ?????

Her dissertation, titled "Beyond Borders: Exploring Factors Influencing Well-being and Work Outcomes in Expatriates," offers valuable insights into enhancing the well-being and success of expatriates. While working abroad provides career growth, leadership development, and intercultural competence opportunities, it can also challenge an employee’s well-being and job success. In her research, Tania Biswas examines expatriates' well-being and work outcomes and investigates the factors that influence these outcomes.

Her dissertation explores predictors of expatriate well-being, the evolution of workplace well-being, and the consequences of this evolution (such as the intention to leave the foreign assignment or end expatriation altogether). It also examines the impacts of high-risk environments and work-life conflict on job performance.

The dissertation is grounded in meta-analysis and quantitative analyses based on longitudinal and cross-sectional data (N=416 expatriates). The theoretical frameworks used include Conservation of Resources Theory and Job Demands-Resources Theory.

The findings reveal that considering job characteristics, work-life interaction, and living environment is crucial for supporting and fostering expatriates' well-being and work success. Alongside her scholarly contributions, Tania’s study provides practical insights that can inform HR policies and processes to support the well-being of international employees.

In her defense of her thesis, Tania inspired us and the audience with her outstanding presentation. ?? We are incredibly proud of her achievements and wish her all the best for the future—we are confident that she will continue to achieve great success!

We wish you all the best, Tania! ?
