Rememberance culture as a task for schools? - The film project “When Times Change” (May 21)
Film screening, project presentation, and panel discussion of the film project “When Times Change” by the Franz-Ludwig-Gymnasiums in Bamberg (May 21, 5 p.m., Steinertstra?e 1, room M3N/02.32).
Titled ?Wenn Zeiten dich ?ndern“ ("When Times Change"), the Franz-Ludwig-Gymnasium in Bamberg had produced a film project that deals with democracy, remembrance culture, and anti-discrimination. The documentary, based on biographical research about former students from the class of 1930, depicts everyday life during the rise of National Socialism, featuring dramatized scenes performed by current students. The film was awarded the Margot Friedl?nder Prize in 2022 and serves as a “Good Practice Example” for antisemitism prevention. It will be discussed in a panel from the perspectives of teachers and higher education.

The exhibit displayed in the 4th branch of the university library (TB4) presents the biographies and fates of several Jewish children from the former administrative districts Ha?furt, Hofheim, and Ebern during the Holocaust. ‘Forget-me-not’ was planned and executed by students of the Friedrich-Rückert-Gymnasium in Ebern within the scope of a project seminar organized by their teacher Daniel He? and stewarded by the historian Cordula Kappner.
