Learning Agreements

On the following page you can find out about the procedure and the documents you need to conclude a Learning Agreement with the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Management Accounting.

What is a Learning Agreement?

A Learning Agreement is a prerequisite for the recognition of academic achievements abroad. It is a declaration of intent to agree to an application for credit transfer after your return. At the same time, it does not give rise to a claim for credit transfer, as a full equivalence check will only be possible after your return on the basis of the content actually taught.

The conclusion of a Learning Agreement (LA) is possible if the course(s) attended and completed abroad is/are equivalent to the course(s) offered at the University of Bamberg. This equivalence assessment requires a case-by-case assessment. For this purpose, please write an e-mail to Mrs. Lisa Wuttke with the following content:

  • the course at the University of Bamberg for which a Learning Agreement is to be agreed
  • the course descriptions (in German or English, as a pdf document or link to the homepage of the foreign university) of the relevant foreign courses, including information on the total course hours (= weekly course hours multiplied by the number of semester weeks), as well as information on the level of the courses (Bachelor's or Master's courses), the examination type and duration
  • a comparison of the course content of the course at the University of Bamberg with the respective course and any overlaps
  • a pre-filled and printed application form for Learning Agreements

With the help of this information, a preliminary check of the content is possible.

Please note: The maximum number of ECTS credits (Bachelor's/Master's) that can be replaced by foreign study and examination achievements is regulated in the individual examination regulations (Bachelor's and Master's degree programs). These can be found on the website of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics.

It is not uncommon for changes to be made to the course offerings at the foreign university or for courses not to be able to be attended due to overlapping schedules.
In this case, please contact us immediately to discuss the changes. If no equivalent replacement can be found, the completed LA may become invalid. It is therefore in your interest to contact us in good time.

You will need the following documents to be able to have credits from abroad recognized:

  • Your Learning Agreement
  • a copy of the certificate showing your achievements abroad and the original certificate for certification
  • a completed and signed application for recognition of credits earned abroad
  • If applicable, course documents on the content taught abroad

Please contact Mr. Feichtinger to clarify which documents are required for recognition and submit them in person after making an appointment.
