Katja M?hring publishes paper on the well-being of family caregivers during the coronavirus pandemic
The article "Family care during the first COVID-19 lockdown in Germany: longitudinal evidence on consequences for the well-being of caregivers" has been published open access in the European Journal of Ageing. Together with Sabine Zinn (DIW Berlin) and Ulrike Ehrlich (Deutsches Zentrum für Altersfragen), Katja M?hring examines changes in the well-being of family caregivers during the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany using data from the German Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP) and the SOEP-CoV study.
The results show heterogeneity in the group of family caregivers: People who had already been caring for a long time with a high intensity of care experienced a greater increase in life satisfaction than non-carers, whereas carers with a low intensity of care experienced a lower increase in life satisfaction.
